NMGIA Professional Service Awards are presented to individuals, organizations, and executives for outstanding contributions to the gang investigations profession. If you or someone you know has performed excellent work in the field of gang investigations worthy of recognition, please consider submitting an award nomination. Award recipients will be announced during the NMGIA Annual Training Event.
The NMGIA relies heavily upon our correctional professionals for their strategic placement in the criminal justice system. This provides for an ideal opportunity to gather criminal intelligence information. A majority of the contributions to the NMGIA knowledge base comes from correctional facilities, including county jails & state prisons across New Mexico. If you are a Correctional Professional, contact us for more information on our research and development program. We aim to bridge the gap between the badges on the street and those walking a beat behind bars. Corrections is a regularly overlooked and unexploited source of vital intelligence.
A gang unit is defined as a specialized unit with at least two officers primarily assigned to handle matters related to gangs. If you are an officer assigned to a gang unit, task force or similar entity, please contact us for Organizational Membership details. If you are interested in developing a Gang Unit, Task Force or establishing a similar function, contact us for more information on our research and development program. We endeavor to support and bolster existing units, establish new ones, revamp and bring back disbanded units. Gang units and similar entities are vital to the fight against criminal organizations at all levels. At minimum a similar function should exist in every agency.
